With Women Initiative

HerbalThere are many ancient healing traditions associated with childbirth. Nurses have a history of partnering with the wise healing women in communities who tend women prenatally, during labor, throughout the postpartum period and transition to motherhood. The focus of the Bamboo Bridge Community is to support the development of partnerships between nurses and community healers such as doulas and birth attendants in a spirit of cultural diplomacy.

Primary Purpose:

The With Women Bamboo Bridge initiative seeks to promote the sharing of healing traditions, build communication, and explore opportunities for collaboration between nurses and community healers such as doulas and traditional birth attendants. It supports growing an awareness of the learning methods and health-related content that can be applied across healthcare fields, languages and cultures.
